Multi-pitch Climbing Techniques
This course prepares you to start climbing multi-pitch routes with a comprehensive set of skills that focus on risk management and efficiency. This course is instructed by an Apprentice Rock Guide or Rock Guide certified by AMGA or ACMG, who is qualified to guide multi-pitch up to 400' or higher.
We begin by reviewing all the essential skills and risk management practices used in single-pitch climbing. We then introduce the concept, challenges and techniques of multi-pitch climbing and rappelling. Yes, multi-pitch rappelling is included in this course, so that you will have the freedom come down effectively after you have climbed up.
1. Multi-pitch Sport Lead Climbing Techniques
Since sport lead climbing is less complex than trad lead climbing, we will be able to add a few problem solving and improvised self-rescue techniques to this one-day course. These techniques can help you mitigate small problems instead of letting them become bigger ones. Your ability to do so is especially important when you climb in a relatively remote location.
Upon your registration of this course, you gain access to a series of video clips that cover the essential lessons in our single-pitch Sport Lead Climbing And Rappelling course. This helps to shorten your learning curve on your in-person course day and allows you to have extra time in the day to learn some self-rescue techniques.
Pre-requisites: Sport Lead Climbing And Rappelling course or equivalent experience.
2. Multi-pitch Trad Lead Climbing Techniques
You will learn the essentials in buildidng a multi-pitch belaying station, managing rope while belaying the second or the lead, gear transition at belay stations, building rappelling stations and more. Several problem-solving and improvised self-rescue techniques are included in this one-day course.
Pre-requisites: Traditional Lead Climbing course or equivalent experience.
